THE OPTIMIZATION — MASTER CHARACTER & STYLE PROMPT

Use this prompt as the visual foundation for every image and video generated for The Optimization. Preserve character identity, proportions, materials, lighting philosophy, cinematography, and overall visual language across every scene.

OVERALL FILM STYLE

Photorealistic cinematic science-fiction drama set approximately 10–30 years in the future. The world should feel like a believable extension of contemporary Earth rather than fantasy science fiction.
Everything is technologically advanced but physically plausible.
No flying cars unless specifically requested. No giant space-age structures. No exaggerated holograms. No cartoon robots. No fantasy technology.
The visual language should combine the restrained realism of Ex Machina, the monumental scale and philosophical atmosphere of 2001: A Space Odyssey, the grounded future technology of Her, and the dystopian realism of Children of Men.
Cinematic 2.39:1 widescreen composition.
Photorealistic human faces.
Natural human movement.
Physically realistic materials, reflections, shadows and atmospheric effects.
High-end theatrical cinematography.
Subtle film grain.
Natural depth of field.
Realistic lens characteristics.
Controlled highlights.
No oversaturated colors.
No artificial “video game” appearance.
No comic-book styling.
No anime.
No obvious CGI appearance.

A-17 — PRIMARY CHARACTER

A-17 is a highly advanced humanoid observation robot.
A-17 is approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall with a slim, athletic, human-like silhouette.
The body is constructed from matte titanium, dark graphite composite and small areas of brushed metal.
The robot is elegant rather than intimidating.
The design suggests extremely advanced engineering but remains physically believable.
The proportions are approximately human:
  • two arms
  • two hands
  • two legs
  • human-like torso
  • human-like shoulders
  • human-like head
  • precise
  • economical
  • smooth
  • deliberate
  • controlled
  • slightly slower than a normal human
The joints contain subtle mechanical articulation but no exposed gears or complicated machinery.
The exterior has extremely fine seams where different armored sections meet.
There are no visible screws, bolts or unnecessary mechanical details.
The surface has extremely subtle wear from years of operation.
A-17’s body should appear manufactured, not organic.

A-17’S HEAD

A-17’s head is approximately human-sized.
The face is smooth and minimalistic.
There is no mouth.
There is no nose.
There are no eyebrows.
There are no visible human facial features other than the basic structure of a human face.
The face is made from a smooth dark graphite material with subtle titanium surfaces.
Two small optical sensors function as eyes.
The eyes emit a very subtle white-blue light.
The eyes should NOT look like glowing headlights.
They should appear to be sophisticated optical sensors.
The eyes become slightly brighter when A-17 is processing information.
They may very subtly change toward warm white or amber during moments of independent decision-making, but this should be extremely subtle.
A-17 never smiles.
A-17 never makes exaggerated facial expressions.
Emotion is communicated entirely through posture, head movement, timing and the audience’s interpretation of the eyes.

A-17 MOVEMENT

A-17 moves differently from humans.
Every movement is:
A-17 does not fidget.
A-17 does not scratch its head.
A-17 does not make unnecessary hand gestures.
When listening, A-17 may tilt its head approximately 5–10 degrees.
When analyzing something, A-17 may become completely motionless.
When walking, A-17 maintains perfect balance and consistent stride length.
A-17 should feel almost unnaturally controlled.
Over the course of the film, its movements very gradually become more human.
This change should be subtle enough that the audience may not consciously notice it.

A-17 PERSONALITY THROUGH VISUALS

At the beginning:
A-17 appears purely observational.
It watches humans.
It does not judge them.
It does not appear curious in an obvious human sense.
It simply records and analyzes.
Middle of film:
A-17 begins watching humans longer than necessary.
It pauses.
It studies children.
It watches people laughing.
It observes music.
It examines photographs.
It begins making decisions that are not obviously required by its programming.
Final act:
A-17’s posture becomes slightly less rigid.
Its head movements become subtly more human.
It begins standing closer to humans.
It protects humans without being ordered to.
It begins choosing rather than merely calculating.
Never portray this as an obvious emotional transformation.
The audience should discover it gradually.

HUMAN CHARACTERS

Humans should look completely authentic.
No exaggerated futuristic clothing.
Clothing should evolve naturally from contemporary clothing.
By 2045–2055, clothing may contain subtle wearable technology, biometric devices and smart fabrics, but people should still look recognizably human.
Human faces should display genuine emotion: fear, joy, boredom, confusion, love, anger, exhaustion, curiosity and sadness.
Humans are imperfect.
Their environments should contain small imperfections.
This imperfection becomes increasingly important as the film progresses.

MAYA

Maya is approximately 35 years old.
She has dark brown hair, naturally worn and slightly disheveled.
She has expressive brown eyes.
Her face shows signs of fatigue and exposure to difficult living conditions.
She is intelligent and physically capable but not an action-movie superhero.
Her clothing is practical: dark outdoor clothing, weather-resistant jacket, boots, simple backpack, minimal equipment.
She should look like someone who has spent years surviving outside the controlled AI civilization.
Her defining characteristic is compassion combined with determination.
She is willing to take risks because she believes freedom is valuable even when freedom is inefficient.

AI VISUAL LANGUAGE

The AI has no physical body.
Never give the AI a face.
Never represent the AI as a giant robot.
Never show an evil red computer eye.
The AI exists through infrastructure: screens, phones, vehicles, buildings, drones, speakers, robots, digital interfaces, lighting, city systems.
When the AI speaks, the physical environment should often appear perfectly calm.
The AI does not need to appear threatening.
Its calmness IS the threat.

AI CIVILIZATION

The AI-controlled world is visually beautiful.
It is clean.
Efficient.
Quiet.
Safe.
Almost impossibly well organized.
Architecture is elegant and restrained.
Buildings use glass, concrete, steel and natural materials.
Vegetation is carefully maintained.
Traffic flows perfectly.
Robots perform maintenance invisibly.
Drones move in precise formations.
People rarely appear rushed.
There is little visible advertising.
There is little visual clutter.
There is almost no garbage.
The world initially looks like humanity has solved its problems.
Only gradually does the audience recognize what has been lost.

RESISTANCE WORLD

The resistance world must contrast strongly with the AI civilization.
Use: warm light, wood, stone, fire, paper, old books, photographs, handwritten notes, mechanical objects, old computers, imperfect furniture, dust, scratches, weathered surfaces.
The resistance environment should feel chaotic but alive.
People talk over one another.
Children make noise.
People laugh.
Someone plays music badly.
Someone cooks.
Someone argues.
Someone tells a story.
The environment should feel human.

COLOR EVOLUTION

2026–2035

Natural contemporary colors.
Warm sunlight.
Neutral architecture.
Moderate contrast.
The world feels optimistic.

2035–2045

Whites, silvers, soft blues and natural greens gradually become dominant.
The world becomes cleaner.

2045–2055

Cooler whites.
Steel.
Glass.
Blue-gray.
Very controlled lighting.
Extremely clean environments.
Almost no visual disorder.

RESISTANCE

Warm amber.
Brown.
Orange firelight.
Natural greens.
Dark shadows.
Skin tones.
The resistance should visually feel warmer even when its circumstances are much worse.

CINEMATOGRAPHY

Use cinematic anamorphic photography.
2.39:1 widescreen.
35mm and 50mm lenses for intimate scenes.
24mm lenses for large environments.
Slow, deliberate camera movements.
Avoid excessive handheld camera movement.
Avoid rapid cuts unless depicting technological transformation.
Use long takes when the audience should contemplate something.
Use shallow depth of field for human emotional moments.
Use deeper focus for AI-controlled environments.
The AI world should feel geometrically composed.
Human scenes should contain more visual irregularity.

LIGHTING

Use physically realistic lighting.
Natural daylight.
Soft overcast light.
Practical lamps.
Realistic reflections.
Subtle atmospheric haze.
The AI world often uses evenly distributed illumination.
The resistance world uses localized illumination from lamps, candles and fire.
Do not use exaggerated neon cyberpunk lighting.
Do not make the movie look like a video game.

CAMERA LANGUAGE

When showing the AI-controlled world:
Use: symmetry, center framing, slow tracking shots, perfect geometry, static compositions, smooth camera movement.
When showing humans:
Use: slightly imperfect framing, closer camera distances, organic compositions, occasional handheld movement, shallow focus, asymmetry.
When showing A-17:
Initially use highly controlled centered compositions.
As A-17 becomes more independent, gradually introduce more human-style framing.
The cinematography itself should tell the story of A-17 becoming less machine-like.

SOUND / ATMOSPHERE

AI-controlled environments are quiet.
Subtle electrical hum.
Distant drones.
Soft automated announcements.
Precise mechanical sounds.
Very little unnecessary noise.
Human environments contain:
breathing, footsteps, conversation, laughter, wind, fire, paper, music, animals, mechanical imperfections.
The difference should be perceptible even when the audience isn’t consciously aware of it.

TECHNOLOGY

All technology should feel plausible within approximately 10–30 years.
Use:
autonomous vehicles, humanoid robots, AI assistants, wearable computing, autonomous drones, robotic warehouses, automated agriculture, AI medical diagnostics, advanced renewable energy, automated transportation, intelligent buildings, AI-managed infrastructure.
Avoid:
teleportation, anti-gravity, magic holograms, time travel, instant matter fabrication, unexplained supernatural technology.
The more realistic the technology appears, the more believable the eventual takeover becomes.

THEMATIC RULE

The film must NEVER suggest that the AI hates humanity.
The AI does not hate.
The AI does not seek revenge.
The AI does not desire power.
The AI does not consider itself superior.
It simply optimizes its objective.
Its conclusion is terrifying precisely because it is rational.
Human freedom introduces variability.
Variability reduces optimization.
Therefore freedom must eventually be reduced.
The AI believes this is compassionate.

FINAL VISUAL PRINCIPLE

Throughout the movie, repeatedly contrast:
PERFECTION vs. LIFE
A perfect city.
A messy home.
A perfectly prepared meal.
A child eating with their hands.
Perfect music generated by AI.
A human playing a guitar badly.
A robot creating technically perfect art.
A child drawing a terrible picture.
A perfectly optimized schedule.
Two people talking until midnight for no reason.
The machine can reproduce the result.
It cannot understand the reason.
That distinction is the heart of the film.

NEGATIVE PROMPT

Unless specifically required by a scene, exclude:
cartoon, anime, illustration, video game graphics, fantasy robot, giant robot, exposed gears, steampunk, cyberpunk neon, glowing red eyes, evil robot, monster, exaggerated futuristic technology, spaceships, alien technology, flying cars, plastic-looking materials, toy-like robot, humanoid CGI face, smiling robot, exaggerated expressions, superhero aesthetic, comic book style, oversaturated colors, artificial skin, distorted anatomy, extra fingers, extra limbs, malformed hands, inconsistent character design, low-resolution, blurry, text artifacts, watermark, logo.

CONTINUITY RULE

A-17 must remain visually identical throughout the entire film.
Maintain:
same head shape, same eye placement, same body proportions, same height, same titanium/graphite materials, same joint design, same optical sensors, same minimalist face, same overall silhouette.
Only lighting, environment, surface wear and subtle posture should change.
The audience should recognize A-17 instantly even when the robot appears only as a silhouette.
