Tomato bouillon with chicken flavor (like Knorr Caldo de Tomate) is a versatile ingredient that can enhance many dishes. Here are a few recipes and ideas for using it:

1. Stewed chicken
  • Brown bone-in, skin-on chicken pieces (like thighs or legs) in a large nonstick skillet.
  • Remove chicken and sauté chopped onion, carrots, bell pepper, and zucchini in the same skillet.
  • Stir in garlic, diced tomatoes, and the remaining bouillon.
  • Add chicken back to the skillet, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Serve with hot cooked rice.

2. Arroz con pollo
  • Sauté bite-sized chicken pieces in oil until browned.
  • Add diced green pepper, onion, and garlic, and cook for a few more minutes.
  • Stir in water, tomato sauce, rice, peas, pimentos, tomato bouillon with chicken flavor, cumin, and oregano.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring until the bouillon is dissolved.
  • Reduce heat, cover, and cook until the rice is tender.
  • Serve with a watercress salad, if desired.

3. Mexican rice
  • Heat oil in a pot and sauté rice until lightly browned.
  • Add onion and cook until softened.
  • Stir in tomato sauce, water, and chicken bouillon.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, add cilantro and jalapeño, and simmer until the rice is tender.
  • Pro tip: Toasting the rice before adding liquids will enhance the flavor and texture of the final dish.

4. Albondigas (Mexican Meatball Soup)
  • Meatballs: Mix ground beef, diced onions and tomatoes, chopped mint leaves, rice, eggs, pepper, and chicken bouillon. Form into mini meatballs.
  • Broth: In a large pot of boiling water, add chicken and tomato bouillon cubes, along with a sauce made from boiled and blended tomatoes, onions, garlic, chipotle puree, oregano, and salt.
  • Add meatballs to the boiling broth and cook for 15 minutes.
  • Add diced carrots, zucchini, potatoes, and cilantro, and boil for 10 more minutes.

5. Other uses
  • Boost the flavor of soups and stews: Add a spoonful or two of the bouillon to any soup or stew that could benefit from a savory, slightly tomatoey kick.
  • Season roasted chicken or vegetables: Mix a few teaspoons into mayo and spread it over chicken before roasting, or sprinkle it directly on potatoes or other vegetables.
  • Enhance pasta dishes: Use it as a base for sauces or add it to the cooking water for extra flavor.
  • Flavor beans, chili, or tacos: Add it to the cooking liquid or filling for an extra layer of flavor.
  • Jazz up savory oatmeal: Add it to the water you use to cook oatmeal for a unique, savory breakfast or lunch option.

Remember that bouillon can be salty, so adjust the amount you use according to your taste and the other ingredients in your recipe. You can also dilute it with water to control the saltines
