Place the marinade and meat together in a ziploc bag or plastic container.
Let it marinate overnight, or up to 24 hours, better.
Remove your tri tip from the fridge 1 hour before cooking

Heat for 15 minutes to get grates hot
Oil grates so tri-tip does not stick
Sear tri-tips for 4-5 minutes on each side (or 2-3 minutes on searing burner)
Move to indirect heat and cook to 130-135 degrees
Traeger:
Turn your Trager to smoke ( allow about 5 minutes)
Take your tri tip out of the marinade and lightly dust all sides of the tri tip with your favorite rub
Place tri-tip on Traeger, turn over after about 30 minutes and cook until the internal temperature reaches 130-135 degrees Farenheit
Remove tri tip from grill and wrap in tin foil
Let it rest in the tin foil for 20-30 minutes
After it has rested, cut thin slices against the grain and serve with Chimichurra sauce
